Dear S.:

We have your August 31 letter of resignation and we agree that the date of Friday September 15, 1989, shall be your last day of employment with Urantia Foundation.  We know that for some time you have been dissatisfied with your employment with Urantia Foundation – at least since the Vern Grimsley episode when the Board of Trustees asked you to reassess your employment with the Foundation in view of your evident resentment and frustration with the Board’s action at that time.  As you know, the Trustees have made a major effort through the reorganization of the office operations to try to make things better for you and the rest of the staff.  This arrangement has apparently not worked, and we are sorry that our concerted efforts since then did not resolve the problem.

With respect to the reasons you give for your resignation, perhaps if you had worked openly and directly with the Trustees in order to resolve your concerns, the difficulties would have been solved.  We think you at least owed the Trustees an honest effort to communicate your concerns to us first hand.  The Board of Trustees even now would welcome specific facts which support your assertions and suggestions of improprieties, even though we do not believe such facts exist.

S., you surely must realize that to politicize your leaving the Foundation's employ by making a questionable statement of unsupported charges similar to the collective views espoused by David Elders and the Executive Committee in the July 21,1989 letter, and by sending copies of your letter to the General Council, greatly diminishes the credibility of your remarks.  This is all the more true when one realizes that you have not brought any specific concerns to the Trustees. Moreover, we understand that the Executive Committee has offered you employment at least through the end of the year, with continued employment possible thereafter.

Is your August 31 letter a resignation or is it propaganda intended to echo the Executive Committee's July 21 letter? We think Urantia Foundation deserves better than this.

Although we reject the transparent attempt to paint the Foundation in a bad light, we do wish you well personally and hope that your new employment, wherever it is, will bring you the greatest possible satisfaction.

Very truly yours,

The Trustees of Urantia Foundation

Mrs. Gloriann Harris, Director of Office Operations

General Council, and Former Presidents of Urantia Brotherhood
