9. The Nature of Spiritual Influences

1) PERSONALITY: THE UNIVERSAL FATHER OF LOVE

a) The higher concepts of universe personality imply: identity, self-consciousness, self-will, and possibility for self-revelation. (1:7-.6)

b) (5:63) (p.70:5) Personality is potential...

c) The material self has personalitv and identity, temporal identity; the prepersonal spirit Adjuster also has identity, eternal identity. (5:6:7)

d)... the concept of the divine presence [must] allow for a wide range of both mode and channel of manifestation embracing the presence circuits of the Eternal Son, the Infinite Spirit, and the Isle of Paradise. Nor is it always possible to distinguish between the presence of the Universal Father and the actions of his eternal co-ordinates and agencies, so perfectly do they fulfill all the infinite requirements of his unchanging purpose. (3:1:6)

2) MERCY: THE ETERNAL SON

a) ... the Son is the revelation of divine love to the universes. As God is love, so the Son is mercy. (6:3:1)

b) Spiritually the Eternal son is omnipresent. The spirit of the Eternal Son is most certainly with you and around you, but not within you and a part of you like the Mystery Monitor. (6:4:6)

c) ... The Original Son is universally and spiritually self-conscious. (6:4:7)

d) The Son gives origin to a vast spirit host, but such derivations are not personalities. When the Son creates personality, he does so in conjunction with the Father, or with the Conjoint Creator, who may act for the Father in such relationships. The Eternal Son is thus a co-creator of personalities, but he bestows personalltv upon no being and of himself, alone, never creates personal beings. This limitation of action does not, however, deprive the Son of the ability to create any or all types of other-than-personal reality. (6:5:3)

e) (6:5:5) (p.78: 1) The Eternal Son...

f) And as the spirit fragment of the Father dwells within you, so does the spirit presence of the Son envelop you, while these two forever work as one for your spiritual advancement. (6:5:7)

g) The spirit world is the habit, the personal conduct, of the Son, and the impersonal realities of spirit nature are always responsive to the will and purpose of the perfect personality of the Absolute Son. (7:0:4)

h) Spirit is ever conscious, minded, and possessed of varied phases of identity. (6:6:2)

i) The Eternal Son ministers as a spiritual influence or as a person, never otherwise.... What the experience of fragmented entities means to the Universal Father, the incarnation experiences of the Paradise Sons mean to the Eternal Son. (7:5:3)

3) MINISTRY: THE INFINITE SPIRIT

a) God is love, the Son is mercy, the Spirit is ministry-the ministry of divine love and endless mercy to all intelligent creation. The Spirit is the personification of the Father's love and the Son's mercy; in him are they eternally united for universal service. The Spirit is love applied to the creature creation, the combined love of the Father and the Son. (8:4:2)

b) In these local creations the Spirit does not come down to the material races in the likeness of mortal flesh as do certain of the Sons of God, but the Infinite Spirit and his co-ordinate Spirits do downstep themselves, do joyfully undergo an amazing series of divinity attenuations, until they appear as angels to stand by your side and guide you through the lowly paths of earthly existence. By this very diminishing series the Infinite Spirit does actually, and as a person, draw very near to every being of the animal-origin spheres. (8.4:5-6) (p.94, last line)

c) The infinite Spirit possesses full power to transmit many of his powers and prerogatives to his coordinate and subordinate personalities and agencies. (9:8: 1)

SUMMARY: (9:2:3-5) (p. 100:6-8) There are many...

4) THE LOCAL UNIVERSE MOTHER SPIRIT

a) To all practical intents and purposes this manifestation of Deity is a divine individual, a spirit person. (34:1:4)

b) From and through this new personal segregation of the Conjoint Creator there proceed the established currents and the ordained circuits of spirit power and spiritual influence destined to pervade all the worlds and beings of that local universe. (34:1:2)

c) (36:5:9) (p.403:5) The adjutant mind'-spirits...

d) The adjutant mind-spirits experientially grow, but they never become personal. (36:5:6)

5) THOUGHT ADJUSTERS

a) (107:7:1) (p.1183:4) Thought Adjusters are...

b) We have often speculated that Thought Adjusters must have volition on all prepersonal levels of choice- (107:7:3)

c) (107:7.4-5) Why then, if...

6) THE SUPREME

a) If you truly desire to find God, you cannot help having born in your minds the consciousness of the Supreme. As God is your divine Father, so is the Supreme your divine Mother, in whom you arc nurtured throughout your lives as universe creatures. What Michael is to Nebadon, the Supreme is to the finite cosmos; his Deity is the great avenue through which the love of the Father flows outward to all creation, and he is the great avenue through which finite creatures pass inward in their quest of the Father, who is love. (117:6:2-3)

b) (117:6:5) (p.1288:5) The morontia soul...

7) SERAPHIC GUARDIANS OF DESTINY

a) (113:3:1-3) (p. 1244:2) One of the most important...

b) On the spiritual level, seraphim make personal many otherwise impersonal and prepersonal ministries of the universe; they are co-ordinators. (113:3:5) The ministering personality of the guardian seraphim, the God presence of the indwelling Adjuster, the encircuited action of the Holy Spirit, and the Son-consciousness of the Spirit of Truth are all divinely correlated into a meaningful unity of spiritual ministry in and to a mortal personality. Though hailing from different sources and different levels, these celestial influences are all integrated in the enveloping and evolving presence of the Supreme Being. (113:4:6)

8) THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH

a) The Creator Son may come and go; his personal presence may be in the local universe or elsewhere; yet the Spirit of Truth functions undisturbed, for this divine presence, while derived from the personality of the Creator Son, is functionally centered in the person of the Divine Minister. (34:4:3)

b) The Creator Son, in the flesh, revealed God to men; the Spirit of Truth, in the heart, reveals the Creator Son to men .... When Jesus was on earth, he lived his life as one personality - Jesus of Nazareth. As the indwelling spirit of the "new teacher," the Master has, since Pentecost, been able to live his life anew in the experience of every truth-taught believer. (194:3:1)

c) The fact of Jesus' earthly life provides a fixed point for the anchor of time, while the bestowal of the Spirit of Truth provides for the everlasting expansion and endless growth of the religion which he lived and the gospel which he proclaimed. The spirit guides into all truth; he is the teacher of an expanding and always-growing religion of endless progress and divine unfolding. This new teacher will be forever unfolding to the truth-seeking believer that which was so divinely folded up in the person and nature of the Son of Man. (194:3:8)

d) The Universe Mother Spirit acts as the universe focus and center of the Spirit of Truth as well as of her own personal influence, the Holy Spirit. (34:4:4)

e) The Spirit of Truth works as one with the presence of the spirit of the Divine Minister. This dual spirit hovers over the worlds, seeking to teach truth and to spiritually enlighten the minds of men, to inspire the souls of the creatures of the ascending races, and to lead the peoples dwelling on the evolutionary planets ever towards their Paradise goal of divine destiny. (34:5:4)

SUMMARY: (194:2:12-13) (p..2062:2-3) In a way...

9) THE NATURE OF SPIRITUAL INFLUENCES

a) There truly exists within you a conspiracy of spiritual forces, a confederation of divine powers, whose exclusive purpose is to effect your final deliverance from material bondage and finite handicaps. (34:6:9)

b) In the bestowal of Adjusters and in the encircuitment of personality, the Father acts alone, but in the contact of spirit forces with intelligent beings, he utilizes the spirits and personalities of the Eternal Son and the Infinite Spirit. He is at will spiritually present equally with the Son or with the Conjoint Actor; he is present with the Son and in the Spirit. The Father is most certainly everywhere present, and we discern his presence by and through any and an of these diverse but associated forces, influences, and presences. (8:5:2)

c) Spirit is ever conscious, minded, and possessed of varied phases of identity. Without mind in some phase there would be no spiritual consciousness 'in the fraternity of spirit beings. The equivalent of mind, the ability to know and be known, is indigenous to Deity. Deity may be personal, prepersonal, superpersonal, or impersonal, but Deity is never mindless, that is, never without the ability at least to communicate with similar entities, beings, or personalities. (6:6:2)

d) Mind must, however, be differently defined when it refers to the spirit level of existence, and when it is used to denote spirit functions of intelligence. That kind of mind which is directly allied with spirit is comparable neither to that mind which co-ordinates spirit and matter nor to that mind which is allied only with matter. (6:6: 1) Mortal man perceives mind on the finite, cosmic, material, and personal levels .... it is difficult for him to grasp the nature of mind when associated with supermaterial beings and as a part of exclusive spirit personalities.
