Urantia BROTHERHOOD

Trustees of Urantia Foundation

Dear Trustees:

We are heartened especially by two comments made in your letter of August 24, 1989 to the Executive Committee:

"Further, we interpret your letter as an exhortation that both organizations scrupulously evaluate the actions of its members.  We are in full agreement with this philosophy.”

"In spite of current disagreements, the Trustees continue to regard the members of the Executive Committee and other elected officials of Urantia Brotherhood as valued colleagues engaged in a common effort. Overall, we believe that the gravity of the situation makes it essential that the General Council conduct its deliberations in a cautious, thorough, and painstaking manner. We appeal to Councilors to avoid taking any precipitate action which would affect the long term relationship between Urantia Foundation and Urantia Brotherhood."

In response to the letter and spirit of these comments, and consistent with our deepening dedication to the need for fairness, openness, honesty, and integrity in all of our deliberations, we are writing with a request and an invitation:

1. To make sure that there is a fair basis on which  to evaluate the seemingly competing claims being made by parties related to this issue, we are requesting respectfully that you release the past Trustees and resigned office staff of Urantia Foundation who will be attending our September 16/17, 1989 meeting of the General Council from any restrictions of disclosure concerning their service for Urantia Foundation. This will insure that they will feel free to discuss with us particularly the reasons which led to their resignations.

2. In order to insure that the current Trustees have fair, personal, and direct access to the members of the General Council, we would welcome your presence (the four current Trustees and Trustee Emeritus) at the same portion of the General Council meeting to be attended by the resigned Trustees. This would take place from approximately 7:00‑11:00 PM on Saturday, September 16, 1990 at the Howard Johnson O’Hare Plaza, 5615 N. Cumberland, Chicago, IL 60631.

We are encouraged by Richard Keeler's serious and honest efforts to place all aspects of this issue on the table in the full light of honest appraisal. Unfortunately, open dialogue and uncontested viewpoints are impossible via the written word. For this reason, we would look forward to the opportunity to provide a forum for a new level of honesty and openness between us as the first building block in rebuilding our interorganizational relationship.

Please let us know your response to these requests. Thanks for your consideration in this matter.

Yours sincerely,
